Our best near term hope, in my view, is that Starmer follows through on bringing PR into the Lords. I actually think it’s a dreadful idea, but as soon as options like the SDP pop up in elections where they might win seats, they’ll win by enormous margins. And while FPTP is holding Con and Lab together, once SDP and other, better alternatives to the current shower are receiving more airtime, the current shower will flow down the drain remarkably quickly….

But I doubt Starmer will follow through. At least that will save us from an elected Lords.

I think something far more deep is going on politics and economy aside. The culture is utterly feminized today. Women are far more neurotic and “open” than men from many large scale psychological testing. All well and good within the family, but these empathetic traits do not scale at the societal level. This is the cause of the covid hysteria and plenty of other health and safety fears too...the ULEZ is another, but these fears have been growing for decades - lead in petrol, passive smoking, BSE...we are a culture that grows ever more fearful and less trusting as Prof Frank Furedi chronicles. Much of the media is actually run by women today and this heightens the tension, in terms of their output of daily fear pornography. And just look at the Bills that Marcusian lunatics like Creasy and the other feminists in Westminster have passed and are passing in the name of “safety” - all absolutely Orwellian in nature. It’s frightening.

I agree with your other policy prescriptions but for me something much more fundamental needs to be addressed: what I call toxic femininity- stripping away stoicism and trust on a daily basis.
